Cumberland Council is keeping residents informed about the ongoing £1 million upgrade project on the A5086 in Frizington.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, some additional works will need to take place on Sunday 20 October, as the council continue improving this important route. Details are provided below:
- Sunday 20 October to Monday 21 October:
A full road closure will be in place from Church Street to the Frizington Household Waste Recycling Centre – HWRC (the tip).
- Tuesday 22 October to Thursday 24 October:
Two-way traffic lights will be in place at various location on Frizington road, from Church Street to Kenmare Tyres.
- Friday 25 October:
A nighttime road closure will be in place from Church Street to Kenmare tyres. Access for residents will be maintained when safe to do so.
This means that access to the Frizington HWRC may be limited from 18 October to 21 October, between 7am and 7pm. While the HWRC will remain open, access cannot be guaranteed. As an alternative, please consider using Clay Flatts HWRC or Maryport HWRC. To find your nearest HWRC please visit the Cumberland Council website.
To minimise disruption to school commutes, school buses will have access during peak times from 7.45am to 8.30am and 3.00pm to 3.45pm.
The council kindly asks the community to remain patient and respectful toward the staff working on this project, reminding everyone of its zero-tolerance policy regarding threatening or abusive behaviour. Cumberland Council thanks the community for their continued support and patience as they work to improve the road network and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
