On the road for improvements: A5086 Cleator Main Street

Road Patching

Cumberland Council is pleased to provide residents and businesses with an update on the ongoing road improvement works on the A5086 Cleator Main Street.

The next phase of footway reconstruction is scheduled to begin on Monday 20 January, and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions.

To minimise disruption, the works will be carried out using temporary traffic lights and a stop-and-go system, ensuring a safer and more efficient flow of traffic for all road users.

Cumberland Council recognises the potential inconvenience these essential improvements may cause, particularly given the importance of the A5086 as a major route. To address this, the council is actively collaborating with local stakeholders, including Parish Councils and local representatives, to reduce disruption wherever possible.

For more information, please visit the Cumberland Council website or contact Cumberland Council’s Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736.

Cumberland Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thank residents and businesses for their continued patience and support as they work to improve this important road network.
