Cumberland Council is excited to announce the launch of its winter Holiday Activity and Food programme. This initiative aims to provide a range of engaging activities and nutritious meals for eligible children during the upcoming Christmas holidays.

Cumberland Council is thanking the community in Cleator Moor for supporting the drop-in feedback session about the community forest last week. The drop-in session was held in Wath Brow Hornets Rugby Club, Cleator and lots of the local community visited and gave their feedback on the community forest.

An estimated 15,000 strong crowd attended this year’s Carlisle Christmas Lights Switch-On. The one and only Chesney Hawkes headlined the event, held in the city centre on Sunday 19 November.

One of the stars of TV’s Bake Off will be cooking up a feast at Taste Cumbria Christmas in Cockermouth. Crystelle Pereira will appear on the festival’s Demo Stage on Saturday 9 December at 1pm, then signing copies of her debut book, My Flavour Kitchen, for cookery fans from 2pm.

On the build-up to the festive season, Cumberland Council is encouraging residents to shop local and support local businesses. Cumberland Council and town councils are lining up events to attract visitors and showcase the shops and traders within the area.

Cumberland Council is asking local residents to join them at their annual Christmas Memorial Services at Distington Hall Crematorium on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 December at 6pm on both days.

Local councils have joined forces to organise Cumbria Residents’ Week between Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 February 2024. The event aims to encourage residents to support local business and shop local.
