Council set to receive funding to further drive nature recovery in Cumbria

Westmorland and Furness Council are set to receive funding from Defra to help develop a tailored nature recovery strategy for Cumbria. Following a government announcement, the council is one of 48 local authorities set to benefit as it receives an allocation from a £14 million funding pot enabling it to work with its local communities to develop a tailored nature recovery strategy for its area.

Improvement works on the A689, Brampton

Cumberland Council is informing residents and businesses that there will be important improvement works on the A689, Brampton. The carriageway improvements will commence on Sunday 2 July with a scheduled completion of Saturday 8 July. The work will be carried out in the evenings to ensure there is no disruption to traffic during the day.

Blaze Bridge in High Lorton to undergo repairs

Cumberland Council is informing residents, visitors, and businesses that Blaze Bridge located in High Lorton will be undergoing repairs in July. The Highways team is scheduled to start the refurbishment work on Monday 3 July. The project is expected to take between six to eight weeks to complete and the team will be working from 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday.

Cumberland Council helps to celebrate the NHS’s 75th birthday

Cumberland Council is helping the NHS to celebrate their 75th birthday, by lighting numerous buildings and local landmarks in blue lighting. The buildings that will be lit will be in the Court Square, Citadels, and Market Cross areas Carlisle. The Civic Centre is also illuminating some of the windows, to form a blue heart for the NHS’s celebration.

Come and join us at the Solway Coast Discovery Days!

Cumberland Council is inviting residents and businesses to join the Solway Coast AONB event (area of outstanding beauty), with the support from Natural England to celebrate King Charles III England Coast Path in Cumbria! The Solway Coast Discovery Days event is free to attend and will be taking place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July, from 10am – 4pm, each day.
