Cumberland Highways is the in-house highway maintenance service provider for Cumberland Council.

We deliver over £30m of revenue and capital works each year, ranging from cyclic maintenance to major improvement works.

We are looking to expand our team and to support that are looking for an experienced Frameworks and Contracts Manager who can help us on our journey.

We are looking for someone who will help us refine how we operate to ensure we remain efficient and viable for the future.

About this opportunity

  • Act as service lead for all framework contracts within Highways and Transport. To coordinate the preparation, procurement and delivery of all service, supply and delivery frameworks
  • Support the delivery of an annual workload in excess of £30m.
  • To be a key contributor to the active management of the council’s built environment related supply chain at all phases from initial feasibility through design and construction to maintenance and life-cycle management

Key responsibilities

  • To oversee the management and administrative functions of the various framework contracts
  • To undertake the direct management of the high risk / high value contracts required to ensure delivery.
  • regular monitoring, production of BRAG reports, audit reports, and other performance reports
  • Report to the Senior Management Team regarding all aspects of the frameworks and contract management.

Who we’re looking for

  • Someone who has comprehensive knowledge construction & engineering contracts and their management and the use of framework arrangements.
  • Substantial experience in monitoring of contract performance and compliance across multiple contracts
  • Someone who can use their experience and communication skills to work across the teams and take them forward.
  • Someone who is keen to further develop their skills and knowledge, both in work and through external learning.
  • Substantial financial management experience in a commercial contracting environment and demonstrable experience in implementing supply chain strategies to achieve improved value for money.

About this opportunity

We are looking to recruit Gardeners to join our Grounds Maintenance Team.

The right candidate must be hard-working and committed to working to the highest standards. Helping to keep Council parks, cemeteries, and open spaces; safe, clean, and well maintained.

You must be able to work well in a team as well as on your own. You must have flexibility in a fast-paced working environment and the ability to deal with multiple demands.

The work will involve many aspects of maintenance including maintaining floral displays, sports pitch maintenance, hedge cutting, grass cutting litter picking, park bin emptying. You will be required to use a wide range of tools and machinery including mowers, hedge cutters and strimmer’s. Previous experience would be an advantage, but training will be provided.

Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
