Teacher of Maths

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Maths to join this very successful 11-18 school, situated on the fringe of the Lake District National Park. The post will commence on 1 September 2024.

The ethos of our school is one of continual improvement; high quality, sustained CPD is at the heart of school and departmental development. The Maths Department at Cockermouth School is a high-performing department, with almost a third of students achieving grades 9–7 and 67% grades 9-5 at GCSE in 2023. This level of attainment matches our outcomes from 2019 when our score for the Maths element of P8 was almost 0.6. Every year we attract large numbers of students to A Level Maths and Further Maths. Over 50% of A Level Maths grades were either A or A* in 2023 across 3 different classes.

We are an evidence-informed team, looking to embed recent developments and further improve our practice.

We are looking for strong candidates who are looking to share their experiences and also develop their practice further.  This post will suit equally an experienced teacher of Maths looking for change or an ECT who wants to benefit from an excellent grounding to their career.

Cockermouth School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and well-being of students, engages with young people and staff on policy and practice developments, proactively encourages feedback and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Cockermouth School is a Safeguarding School.  The successful applicant will be subject to relevant barred lists check(s), undertake an enhanced DBS and where appropriate to the post will be required to complete a Childcare Disqualification Declaration.  Shortlisted candidates will need to disclose relevant criminal history.

Applicants will be considered on the basis of suitability regardless of sex, race, marital status or disability.  Disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria will be interviewed.
