Cumberland Council will begin barrier improvement works on Georgian Way between Victoria Place junction and the Civic Centre, in Carlisle, starting Monday 4 November.

This session will offer a valuable opportunity to learn more about upcoming enhancements and to speak directly with project managers and technicians.

Spectacular images, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London are now on show at The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven. The world-renowned exhibition - Wildlife Photographer of the Year - now in its sixtieth year is being showcased until 26 January 2025.

Cumberland Council is delighted to announce four additional artists have been commissioned to create artwork to be displayed over the winter at Workington Railway Station as part of the Workington Art Trail.

More than 5,000 handmade poppies are now on display in Carlisle’s city centre. The knitted and crocheted poppies have been months in the making and are on show in The Lanes shopping centre, on the Market Cross and the Old Town Hall.

Cumberland Council welcomes the findings of His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation’s (HMIP) inspection report on Cumberland Youth Justice Service (YJS), which acknowledges the challenges of the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and working with partners while commending the dedication and efforts of the YJS team.
