‘Enterprising Cumbria’ launched, promoting local and inclusive growth

Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council are thrilled to announce the launch of Enterprising Cumbria, in a further step to transfer functions from Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (CLEP) to the two unitary councils in Cumbria. This is a milestone in the journey to providing a strong, pan-Cumbrian voice for businesses across the region.

New facility at Silecroft

Takeaway food is now available from a new coastal facility at Silecroft. The new facility, designed by Scottish architects Konishi Gaffney, is now complete and Cumberland Council will shortly be going out to the market to appoint a permanent operator to manage the café.

Show & Tell is on the move!

Following the huge success of the Show & Tell event held in Bitts Park, Carlisle on Sunday 19 May, Show & Tell is getting on its two wheels and heading to Harraby Cycle Circuit this Sunday (7 July).  Carlisle Matters in collaboration with Cumberland Council, is inviting all to come along to the Cycle Circuit between 1pm and 4pm for a free fun filled afternoon full of everything cycling related.

Remembering Srebrenica

Srebrenica National Memorial Day

A survivor of the Bosnian War will be sharing his experiences at a special Cumberland Council organised event to mark Srebrenica Memorial Day 2024. The public event, held at the Civic Centre, Carlisle, will be held on Monday 8 July, starting at 11am.
